A Wet Walk

Here is another of Tricia Sturgeon's poems for you to enjoy.

A Walk? Oh Surely you're joking!

Just listen... It's pouring with rain.

I got all wet through just this morning

Whilst going on a trip down the lane.

No, leave me right here by the fire

Wrapped up in a nice, toasty glow,

For I can nip out in the garden

Whenever I've just "gotta go."

Oh look now, he's putting his coat on:

Cat's paws! What's ailing the man?

Why does he want to go walking?

Why can't he just take the van?

He's bending down low right beside me

And giving my ears a nice rub,

As ever so softly he whispers

"We'll just go as far as the pub"

The pub! Oh well now, that's different.

You just had to say so you know,

There'll be crisps and pork pie if I'm lucky,

The rain? I just love if, Let's go.

Tricia Sturgeon, Mundesley, Norfolk.
